When I was little I wanted to be a botanist, a geologist, an archaeologist, and eventually a photojournalist. I’ve always loved learning about and being immersed in nature and other cultures. An explorer as well as an introvert, I delight in the intersection of art, history and science.
I’m originally from New Mexico, but my family has roots in the Italy-Slovenia border region and I spent several years in Brazil as a teenager. I grew up speaking multiple languages and feeling at home everywhere and nowhere.
After graduating with degrees in Portuguese and Marketing, I moved to Mozambique to do write proposals and do fundraising for agricultural projects. I lived in Southern Africa for nearly 5 years, and during that time I discovered blogging and art as ways to process my experiences and connect with a greater community.
Eventually my interests led me back to school and to California, where I received a degree in Jewelry/Metalsmithing and spent the next decade as a gallerist and custom jeweler specializing in heirloom redesign and memory projects.
When I became a mom in 2019, my focus and geography changed yet again. Home base is now Florida, and I’ve returned to my linguist roots to become a copywriter and translator. I’m also finding my way back to a regular writing and art practice solely for myself.
The grand plan is to create a life that spans Florida, my family’s homestead in Italy, and my husband’s native Brazil. Along the way, you’ll find me making giant spreadsheets, moving my body, fermenting and foraging, and immersed in the revolution that is parenthood.
